My client is a leader in molecular diagnostics using micro array technology for clinical diagnostics. They are looking for a Senior Bioinformatician.

The role:

• Conducting data analysis and algorithm development using statistical, system biology and bioinformatics tools for a variety of data types (mostly gene expression data), identifying molecular signatures for disease prognosis and treatment prediction in patient sub populations.
• Interpreting data in appropriate biological context and presentation of the results internally and externally.
• Maintaining a good level of documentation and compliance.
• Generating written reports for manuscript preparation and patent applications.
• Interacting with internal and external scientific communities to maintain expert knowledge and advice on new developments and applications in the field of bioinformatics, biomarker and translational research.
• Support the development and exchange of relevant skills and knowledge with other members of the group.
• Develop solutions to problems where established theories and techniques have not always been identified.
• Actively participating in multidisciplinary teams for discovery, biomarker and translational research

Required education and experience

• PhD degree with 2+ years of experience with a strong background in cancer genetics/molecular biology, or alternatively a Masters degree with a minimum of 6 years relevant bioinformatics working experience.
• Must be experienced with a genomics platform with focus on data analysis and interpretation.
• Relevant experience in bioinformatics and statistical software for gene expression analysis including pathways analysis.
• Must be experienced in programming and application development language: R or Matlab.
• Familiar with public genomics databases.
