My client develops enterprise-wide computer-aided detection (CAD) and other
image processing software used by the medical imaging community to aid in
earlier detection of disease. Their unique software solutions have been
validated using some of the world’s largest and most population-diverse verified
CT scan databases to help clinicians identify, measure and analyse suspicious
pathology.
They are looking for an experienced scientific engineer who can join their team
in research and development of world class medical imaging applications.
The Scientific R&D Engineer is responsible for
- Performing scientific research into image processing, pattern recognition,
and artificial intelligence algorithms for applications in medical imaging
- Extending, enhancing, and testing existing algorithms and developing new
ones as libraries for integration and distribution
- Following software engineering principles for code design, review and
defect fixes and relevant procedures for research software development
- Writing and presenting scientific papers for international journals and
conferences
- Maintaining a working knowledge of the state-of-the-art in relevant research
areas
Qualifications and Expertise
Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate all or many of these key
qualities:
- A proven research background in image processing, pattern recognition, and/or
artificial intelligence
- Doctorate in Mathematics, Computer Science or other numerate discipline
- Advanced research experience in machine learning and classification preferred
- Knowledge of Matlab, C++, and object-oriented programming
- Understanding of Medical Physics including CT, MRI, and Ultrasound, is useful
- Ability to deal with steep learning curves and work to tight timeframes
- Strong team working and communication skills
- Particular preference will be given to candidates with experience in medical
imaging applications, especially Computer Aided Detection (CAD) and Computer
Aided Diagnosis (CADx) tools.
