My client is a global precision
technology company operating at the highest levels of accuracy within the field
of surface and form metrology. They provide measurement solutions to the most
demanding applications with a worldwide infrastructure to support their clients.
They are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to provide
the mechanical design and development necessary on new and existing surface
metrology measuring instruments to agreed quality, timescales and cost.
Principal Accountabilities
- Provide conceptual and detail design
solutions to meet company/customer requirements.
- Project manage a design from concept
to completion/customer delivery.
- Investigate assigned problems and
provide effective solutions.
- Provide the necessary performance
testing on designed assemblies.
- Provide the necessary design support
documentation.
- Provide technical support to
Manufacturing Engineering/Service/Assembly/Sales.
Skills and Knowledge
- Creative and cost conscious approach
to Design.
- Good problem solver from both an
analytical and a practical point of view.
- An I.Mech.E accredited degree in
Mechanical Engineering, with some industrial experience preferably in the
field of precision engineering.
- Show aptitude for producing CAD
drawings (both 2D & 3D)
- Self Motivated and a capacity for
lateral thinking.
- Good organisational skills and a
‘team player’.
- Good communications skills at all
levels.
