My client is a global player
in the area of technical computing, control engineering, design and simulation.
They are looking for Technical Computing Consultants to work across sectors
including aerospace, automotive, energy utilities, financial institutions
government departments and petrochemical industries. The role is to
deliver consulting services projects involving mathematical modeling,
statistical data analysis, numerical optimization, building GUIs and the
development / integration of software tools
Responsibilities
-
Providing direct technical
contribution to consulting projects across a range of industries and
applications
-
Business development
activities, including making presentations to customers, analyzing their
requirements, and preparing project proposals
-
Analyzing and solving complex
problems
-
Satisfying customer
requirements within agreed timescales
-
Meeting clients, writing
reports and giving presentations
-
Project management activities,
with project sizes typically ranging from 1 to 4 people and from several days to
many months
-
Supporting sales and marketing
teams in the penetration of key accounts
-
Supporting software
development teams by providing detailed feedback.
You will need to be confident
working both independently and as part of a team and will be good at managing
your own time and commitments.
Qualifications
Required
-
A good first degree from top
tier university in mathematics, physics, engineering or computer science
-
Relevant Ph.D. or first
degree and a minimum of 2 years commercial experience
-
2+ years of MATLAB
-
Extensive experience of
software development, including two or more of the following
languages/technologies: C, C++, Java, .NET, MATLAB

Strong verbal and written
communication skills
-
Strong desire to learn about
new technologies and domain areas

Track record in the areas of
analysis, modeling or optimization

Knowledge of grid computing
technologies and/or implementation of distributed algorithms on Windows or UNIX
systems
