R & D Scientist - Clinical Diagnostics

My client is developing a range of Distributed Clinical Diagnostics Systems and
is looking for a R&D Scientist to undertake scientific projects and
investigations to support the company's research and development program and
subsequent product support. The role is based at the companies UK facility in
Cambridge and will also play a key role as an integral member of the company's
international R&D program based in the US.
Key Responsibilities.
1. To lead and deliver R&D projects as assigned by the R&D manager.
2. To research, develop and implement innovative solutions to resolve project
issues.
3. To design, conduct and analyse experiments in line with company standards and
protocols. Ensuring experimental work is carried out using appropriate
statistical tools and techniques and that all experimental conclusions are
supported by data.
4. To provide product support for launched products.
5. Ensuring that all assigned key project tasks and milestones are met. Where
this does not occur to develop and implement action plans to correct and prevent
future occurrence.
6. Providing regular communication of project progress to the R&D manager and
Project Director.
7. Ensuring that all work is carried out in line with company health and safety
procedures and policies.
8. Maintaining all written documentation according to company standards.
9. Generating reports in support of key project goals and objectives..
10. To ensure that all work is carried out to the defined regulatory standards
(cGMP's and ISO 13485 2003).
The successful candidate will have a degree or equivalent in Biochemistry,
Clinical Chemistry or another appropriate biological science.
Experience
Typically a minimum of 4 years experience in either Immunodiagnostics or
clinical chemistry assay R&D and or technical support.
Must be able to demonstrate a successful track record of bringing product to the
market.
Must be familiar with the design control process.

1. Highly developed analytical skills including design of experiments and
hypothesis testing.
2. Strong communication skills.
3. Detailed understanding of the requirements of cGMP and ISO 9001 as applied to
the R&D, technical investigation and manufacturing environments.
4. Objective and data driven.
5. Functions well in short time scale environments.
6. Innovative in approach to problems.
