Job Title:          Application Scientist - Analytical Chemistry Software

My client is looking for an Application Scientist to join their International Application Scientist Team based in the United Kingdom to provide support to team members and customers in and around the UK and Europe by creating and demonstrating software solutions to address specific critical business issues within scientific workflows. You will be engaged in the installation of software systems for presales evaluations and post sales rollout as well as follow-up technical support.

Duties will include diagnosing technical problems, providing concise explanations in a clear professional language, and providing solutions in a timely manner. Participation in marketing activities such as trade shows, conferences, as well as internal and external training involving national and, where appropriate, international travel is required.

The successful candidate will ideally be educated to Masters level (or higher) in Chemistry and should have more than 3 years industrial experience, preferably obtained within a pharmaceutical or biotech environment. You should be well versed in the acquisition and interpretation of data acquired from modern analytical instrumentation including (but not limited to) NMR, MS, UV/IR, HPLC, LC and GC.

The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual who enjoys and excels at problem solving and demonstrates good interpersonal skills.

Additional Qualifications

Familiarity with one or more operating systems including Windows®, Mac OSX, Linux, SUN Solaris area an asset as would familiarity with Java scripting, Oracle, Visual Basic/Pascal programming and software installation.

The role is home office based with travel representing 30% of the work hours.
